چکیده

For an n×n random image with independent pixels, black with probability p(n) and white with probability 1−p(n), the probability of satisfying any given firstorder sentence tends to 0 or 1, provided both p(n)n 2 k and (1 − p(n))n 2 k tend to 0 or +∞, for any integer k. The result is proved by computing the threshold function for basic local sentences, and applying Gaifman’s theorem.

Logical properties of random graphs from small addable classes

We establish zero-one laws and convergence laws for monadic secondorder logic (MSO) (and, a fortiori, first-order logic) on a number of interesting graph classes. In particular, we show that MSO obeys a zero-one law on the class of connected planar graphs, the class of connected graphs of tree-width at most k and the class of connected graphs excluding the k-clique as a minor. In each of these ...

The Logic of Random Regular Graphs

The first order language of graphs is a formal language in which one can express many properties of graphs — known as first order properties. The classic Zero-One law for random graphs states that if p is some constant probability then for every first order property the limiting probability of the binomial random graph G(n, p) having this property is either zero or one. The case of sparse rando...

Zero-One Laws, Random Graphs, and Fräıssé Limits

While at first glance the fields of logic and probability may appear as immiscible as oil and water, a closer look reveals that probabilistic questions about logic often have surprisingly elegant and powerful answers. For instance, one might wonder “What is the probability that a certain sentence in a certain logic holds for a randomly chosen structure?” Though in many cases this question will ...

Hereditary Zero-One Laws for Graphs

We consider the random graph M n ¯ p on the set [n], were the probability of {x, y} being an edge is p |x−y| , and ¯ p = (p 1 , p 2 , p 3 , ...) is a series of probabilities. We consider the set of all ¯ q derived from ¯ p by inserting 0 probabilities to ¯ p, or alternatively by decreasing some of the p i. We say that ¯ p hereditarily satisfies the 0-1 law if the 0-1 law (for first order logic)...

Very Weak Zero One Law for Random Graphs with Order and Random Binary Functions Sh548

Let G<(n, p) denote the usual random graph G(n, p) on a totally ordered set of n vertices. (We naturally think of the vertex set as 1, . . . , n with the usual <). We will fix p = 12 for definiteness. Let L < denote the first order language with predicates equality (x = y), adjacency (x ∼ y) and less than (x < y). For any sentence A in L let f(n) = fA(n) denote the probability that the random G...
